Why Everyone Should Incorporate Burpees into their Workout Routine

Burpees are a recent phenomenon in the fitness world. Until recently, the exercise was only widely used by the United States Army as a way to assess the fitness level of recruits because it is a great measure of agility, coordination, and strength. However, the exercise has recently gained popularity among all people in the fitness world because it is an excellent strength and cardio exercise.

Here are some Reasons Why Everyone Should Incorporate Burpees into their Workout Routine:
  • No equipment needed – this is a purely body weight exercise so no need for equipment or machines
  • TOTAL Body Workout – Burpees work the entire body, including the core, legs, arms, and back
  • Cardio AND Strength Workout – not only are burpees great for building strength and toning muscles but they are an intense cardio workout as well that will get your blood pumping!

  1. Start in a standing position
  2. Bending your knees put your hands flat on the floor in front of you shoulder width apart
  3. Jump both feet back at the same time so you are in a plank position – flat back, core tight
  4. Do one push up
  5. Jump your feet back in towards your hands
  6. Stand up to the starting position
  7. Jump straight up
